I have officially made my first homemade bread recipe. YAY. I am absolutely obsessed with this homemade rye bread. It came out perfect and I am so excited for you guys to try it!! It is so good that you can just eat it plain with nothing on it… I’m that person. But if your not into that, it makes great sandwiches and sweet and savory toast! My favorite way to eat it is with avocado and eggs. If you are a bread lover you need to try this.

I love making bread. It really doesn’t take much work and the process is pretty simple which I loved. It’s also not a 2 day process like a lot of bread recipes… I’m way too impatient for that. The ingredients are super simple along with the process. Now your turn to make it!

This recipe is made with super simple minimal ingredients for an easy process and good bread!!

  • 1 1/2 cup rye flour
  • 1 1/2 cup unbleached bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil

how to make rye bread

Start by mixing all of the ingredients together in a stand mixer until a dough ball forms. (If you don’t have a stand mixer just knead with your hands).

Place the dough ball in a greased bowl and cover. Let sit for 1-2 hours or until the dough doubles in size.

Transfer to a parchment paper lined sheet pan and let sit for an additional hour. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Bake for 30-35 minutes. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
