I am beyond excited to share this Healthy Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread recipe with you! It is so simple and easy to make and it makes for the perfect breakfast, snack, or dessert. Made with unbleached flour, bananas, coconut sugar, coconut oil, cocoa powder, and a few other simple ingredients.

Here in iso, I have been creating every variation of banana bread I can think of. Baking is my therapy and banana bread is one of my favorite recipes to customize, there are just so many different ways you can make it! I made round one of this the other day and after some tweaking yesterday, I made it perfect. This banana bread recipe is fluffy, moist, and SOOOOOOOO DELICIOUS!! My favorite way to eat it is heated up with some peanut butter and chocolate chips on it…seriously the best combo!

Ingredients in Healthy Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread

What makes this recipe healthier is that it is made with unbleached flour, coconut sugar (which makes it refined sugar free), coconut oil, bananas, eggs, and almond milk. These are all great ingredients!

How to make it

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees

Next, mix the flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt

In a separate bowl mix the mashed bananas, melted coconut oil, vanilla, and eggs

Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Then, evenly separate into 2 bowls

Add the cocoa powder and almond milk to one of the bowls

In a greased loaf pan, add the batters by alternating adding a spoonful of one, then a spoonful of the other

Swirl it around with a toothpick and bake 50-55 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean, ENJOY 🙂

Substitutions

Keep in mind that substituting ingredients could affect the flavor and bake time! Here are my suggestions:

  • flour- replace with GF or whole wheat flour
  • coconut oil- replace with butter or any oil
  • coconut sugar- replace with any sugar
  • almond milk- replace with any milk or dairy free milk
  • eggs- replace with chia or flax eggs

Ingredients
  

  • 1 3/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 mashed bananas
  • 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Mix the flour, coconut sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt
  • In a separate bowl, mix the mashed banans, melted coconut oil, eggs, and vanilla
  • combine the wet and dry ingredients
  • separate evenly into two bowls
  • in one of the bowls, mix in the cocoa powder and almond milk
  • alternating between the batters, add into a greased loaf pan and swirl it around with a tooth pick
  • bake for 50-55 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean
  • serve and enjoy!

    My expectations were high but it was somehow EVEN BETTER than I had expected. It’s only been out of the oven for about two hours and my family has had half the loaf. So yummy!

    I made this last night and it is so good!! I didn’t have coconut oil/coconut sugar so I substituted for vegetable oil and granulated sugar. Cooked for an hour and it turned out amazing!!
